His year without soda

Jeff Egnaczyk reports on a year without drinking a single drop of soda:
... The side effect of all of this is that eating more healthy in one aspect of your diet pushes you to do the same in others. For one, water might go well with meals but it doesn't even compare to soda and a bag of chips and dip. So I don't eat chips and dip as much. Also, the more you eat healthy the more something unhealthy seems like a binge. You feel more comfortable eating more vegetables and less junk. ...

Good job!
Giving up soda is a lot harder than people realize. I applaud Jeff's hard work. I gave up sugared soda in the early 90s and then gave up the diet later. I have been pretty much soda free since 2005. Now, I have a homemade root beer out two or three times a year. I just feel better knowing I'm consuming a more natural diet.
I stopped drinking soda
I stopped drinking soda regularly a few years ago and still have one every so often. I find that the soda you get in a restaurant or the movies is more watered down then I had previously thought. When I do have a soda from a bottle I have to take it slow because you forget how much carbonation these things have lol.
Seltzer Water
I used to drink a lot of soda in college, but wanted to cut down on my sugar intake after graduation. What I really liked about soda was the fizz, so I switched to Polar Seltzer. I don't miss Coke at all, although once in awhile I'll have a diet soda if I really want the caffiene.
Seltzer rules!
Seltza booooy!
If you don't bring that seltza
Gonna tell Mistah Meltzah
On youuuuu!
It's probably the only tradition from the old neighborhood I've managed to pass onto the kidlet - on our yearly visits to the Great Heartland (i.e., Illinois) - she always wonders why they don't have seltzer and we have to settle for club soda.
Old school
Get yourself a seltzer bottle. You can fill it with water or fruit juice. Make your own soda and control the sugar content.
Seltzer and some orange juice
Orangina Lite!
Seltzer and Goya's Pineapple Refresco Soda
A glass of selzter on the rocks with a dash of Goya's Pineapple soda. Oh boya! It's good!
good job
Good job! I also just finished a year without soda. This year I'm dropping soda and non-holiday candy i.e. I can eat Easter candy on Easter day, Halloween candy on Halloween, etc. It's gonna be tough.
mmmm. candy
Actually, stocking up on halloween candy can be good. When you want that chocolate fix, you have a nice small single serving there. (provided you stop at one, of course). Nothing worse than having a chocolate jones, and all you have are the massive king-size things in the vendo machines.
Another Seltzer vote.
While I often have a diet soda with lunch, all other at home beverages are water or seltzer (plain and flavours), and enjoy it a lot more than soda, and of course without the sugar and caffeine.
But you do notice the food associations. Cola and pizza still rule - such that I do indeed have less pizza when drinking seltzer than diet coke.
Results
If you want to see even more results, try giving up alcohol too. I haven't had a drop of booze in the last 6 months, and I've dropped 10 lbs.
