What if the Sox put an actual bull in the bullpen?

By adamg - 1/9/09 - 11:19 am

Alicia relays the news that Sox ownership's marketing group now has a marketing deal with the Professional Bull Riders. Unfortunately for people who'd like to see a bull chasing Alex Rodriguez (followed by clowns with seltzer bottles), however, the idea is for the Fenway folks to increase marketing opportunities in the bull-riding circuit, not to turn Fenway into a field of bull:

Mr. Corcoran of Fenway Sports Group sees plenty of opportunities, with companies able to slap their names on the more-prominent parts of the bull-riding ring and its cast of riders the way Coke has taken over a light tower above the Green Monster, Fenway Park's famous left-field wall.

When I was in grad school in

By NotWhitey - 1/9/09 - 12:51 pm

When I was in grad school in Georgia, I went to a rodeo at the school arena. First they ride out carrying Confederate flags, then the flags of the southern states, and finally, at the very end, an American flag showed up. Then we settled in to thanking our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this, the bounty we were about to receive. Throughout the show (during the 1990s), the Master of Ceremonies guy kept up a constant patter of anti-Clinton cracks. And oh, by the way... the animals come out of the chute jumpin' because the good ol' boys tighten a leather strap around his balls. Real tight.

I'm sure that will go over well in Boston.

Clinging to God, Guns ...

and Bull Balls?

That must be one of them Southern Rodeos. Not exactly like the real western roundups we went to on grade school trips.

NESN Programming Potential

By jdj - 1/9/09 - 1:09 pm

They may be setting up a NESN show along the lines of "Wife Swap". A bible-toting Georgian is sent to watch a game in the Fenway bleachers while an espresso-sipping Cambridge liberal is sent to the rodeo. Hilarity ensues.
