I'm sorry, it just sounds too much like an Amtrak train ("Now boarding on track 17, the Northeaster, making station stops at Rte. 128, Providence, Old Saybrook, New Haven, Stamford, New York Pennsylvania Station"), while "nor'easter" is full of wind and fury and old salts in slickers being battered by the spray as they peer out over the ship's wheel with their one good eye.
I alternate between the two - when I'm talking to folks at work, generally it's 'nor'easter.' When I blog or write home to people here, I call it 'northeaster.'
One little nitpicky thing about the poll answers: technically, it's "I couldn't care less."
I think thats a very good idea. It gets much more acurate results because the people who don't care or it doesn't effect have their own place to vote instead of the places that matter.
There's actually a way to see the results without voting (stick /results at the end of the poll URL). One of these days, I'll hack around in the poll module to add that to the list of options at the end of the home-page listing of a poll (why it's not a default, I have no idea).
I can't believe I'm the only Northeaster so far. I've been hearing for years that "Nor'easter" is a fake-old-timey recent invention, suggested by its long-standing opposite, the "souwester." Was I misinformed?

So you say...
Actually, in my family, where we effect the accent when necessary, we say, nawtheastah or naweastah.
Also, I love the fact that you include in your polls buttons for people who don't give a damn about the poll, but vote anyway to see the totals.
