Robbed, stabbed in Cambridge

Cambridge Police report a man was stabbed during a mugging around 10:22 p.m., Tuesday at 354 Broadway:

The victim stated that there were two males dressed in all dark clothing outside his apartment who kept asking him questions that he did not understand. One of the suspects pulled out a knife, demanded his belongings and proceeded to cut the victim's leg.

The two suspects were then observed running up Inman Street towards Central Square.

The man was treated for what police said was a minor injury at a local hospital.

It's getting worse above prospect. There's been a fair amount of street crime around there...

That part of Cambridge, between Prospect and CRL HS, still feels relatively safe at night to me, especially N of Broadway.

Broadway itself feels a little bit sketchy for much of its length (and it and Harvard St. are to be avoided at night as you approach Kendall Square). But at least Broadway has traffic and visibility in this part of Cambridge.

This mugging was on a spot of Broadway where there are city buildings and shops that are closed at night. The old school there has a basketball court and some places to loiter on the corners in the shadows below trees. A couple blocks up, and you have more residences with people awake in their living rooms at that hour.

(I did have an attempted mugging by two extremely firearm-emboldened teenagers just NW of Prospect a few years ago, but, technically, I believe they got out of the back of a car and started following me just *SE* of Prospect. :)
