This time, Ladder 18 from South Boston and Ladder 24 from Beacon Hill, WBZ reports.
...so that we know whether or not to buy garden hoses, ladders, and axes for our neighborhood...
How many pieces of equipment total has Boston "lost"? Is this stuff completely out of action, or if there was a major emergency, would they use it anyway or to provide backup coverage? How is the department providing adequate coverage/service? Has this impacted response times? What is being done to get the trucks back on the road? For example, has the city brought in factory-trained technicians to help in-house crew? Contracted the services of anyone out-of-state? Or is it the same-old, same-old with a couple of completely untrained fire fighters doing the maintenance?
Christ, the only thing more astounding than the incompetence in BFD's maintenance and the utter lack of transparency at BFD, is the incompetence in reporting the impact this is having or what is being done about it. Nobody seems to be asking questions!
