-2/10ths of a degree
By adamg - 1/16/09 - 9:16 am
That was the reading from the thermometer on our back deck around 8 a.m. up here in the Clarendon Hills along the Roslindale/Hyde Park frontier. It's now up to a balmy 2 degrees.

-4 F out here in I-495 land
I thought it would be bit colder.
We're headed to Jackson NH for some XC skiing, where it's supposed to get down to -15 F. Now we're talkin'. Nothing like cold temps to keep those skis moving. If you stop, you get cold. ;-)
I-93 in Meffid
The Century Bank building was reading -2 when we drove in around 8:20 am.
Our home thermometer was close to -20C ... or "F@#%F@#%F@#%COLD!!!" according to the XKCD Guide to Metric
Forecast
"Snow possible Saturday night or maybe Sunday, could be up to a few inches"
What does the "Accu" in "Accuweather" stand for again? I could make an equally vague prediction with goat entrails or a fortune cookie.

-8 in Littleton
...at 5:45 when I left to catch the train--which, of course, was delayed 15 minutes. At least the conductor bothered to get on the PA and let us know what was wrong: a "problem with the air pressure". But, hey, only the brakes were affected. What's the worst that could happen there?
That's what you get for living in the boonies!
It was 10.2° in the South End, according to my thermometer, when I woke up this morning. I put on winter cycling appearal under my clothes for the walk to work at Government Center only to abandon my walk at Back Bay Station when I got too hot. I should have kept walking because the first train didn't come for over 15 minutes and it was too full to get on. I was able to get one a few minutes later, but I got to State Street about 10 minutes later that I would have, had I not opted to take the T.
That's cold, man
Andrew Teman reports he had to scrape the inside of his car's windshield this morning.
Icy Beard
Fellow I work with takes the commuter rail from Worcester, then bikes a couple miles in Newton/Wellesley to get to work. He had an accumulation of ice in his beard when he got here. Pretty funny.

Meanwhile, on I-93 ...
We were buzzing along in the HOV lane in the family van behind other cars with bumper stickers and visual indicators that their multiple occupants usually preferred to commute on two wheels. Things like "my other car is a bike" and "independent fabricators" and "massbike".

I live in Walpole and it was -5 when I left for work this morning at 8am.
I also had ice on the inside of my windshield, but I went out five minutes beforehand to start it and fortunately my defroster took care of things.
I'm tired of this winter already....
12 degrees in the Back Bay
It was about 12 degrees on our thermometer at about 9 am.
The doggie didn't want to go out in it so she let us sleep late.
When we did go out she did her business quick and headed back to her warm nest.
Brrrrrr!!
I attended a screening of the film "Lawrence of Arabia" at the Brattle Theatre this past evening.
Boy, was it cold, walking from my car (which I'd decided to park in the Charles Square garage in Harvard Square) to the movie theatre, and vice versa. It must've gone down below 12 degrees by the time I got out of the movie four hours later. There was a good crowd, and we all had a wonderful time, however.
It must have been a shocker
It must have been a shocker to feel the cold after sitting in a crowded theatre watching a movie based in the middle east.
