Today's You Park Like A Masshole installment

This special snowflake is today's installment for a couple of reasons. One, it's pretty ballsy to park across a crosswalk on Boylston Street. Two, our Masshole is possibly a cop (the badge was an enamel fraternal-order-of-police badge) and three, this story has a happy ending. Or at least, it would be nice to think so, except that ticket has a good chance of being waived by a local judge...

Last but not least, the fourth reason for this YPLAM installment: Notice something missing from the nose of that Mercedes? Yep, that's right. Our law-abiding citizen and supporter of the Fraternal Order of Police doesn't believe they need to display their front plate.

Cops rarely put one of those things like that on their license plate. And most of those blue and while stickers you see aren't cops either.

It is probably a judge or some clown who thinks a meter maid will pass them by because of the badge on the plate. You find often enough that people who have these things on their cars only know one cop and think they can get away with anything.

That would be about par for their course.

Blue and black.

I think the greatest trick the cops have pulled is convincing us that "most of those people" with the stickers aren't *actually* cops. From what I've seen, the overwhelming majority are.

I also almost always see them on cars which are a)American and b)have illegal tint jobs c)no front plate d)parked in close proximity to district station houses, BPD HQ, or officers on construction detail.

for parking in dangerous spots for menial tasks that don't have to do with police work. You don't see that on the internet so the average citizen wouldn't know.

And Ive personally found more than half of the people with those vehicles to be relatives of cops, cop wannabees, police supply workers, or police radio fanatics.

Not all cars in MA have both front and back plates. My car only has one plate just like your little friend.

But if you have one of the "newer" plates (which came in when Dukakis was governor, if I recall correctly, which means they're getting pretty old, too) or a vanity plate, you're supposed to have them on front and back.

why not just make people with green plates get another one? And some of them are so worn out you cant even see them.

Our 1993 escort was the last vehicle we owned with a single green letter plate. By 1999, when we got a beater Volvo, they had the new system and two plates.
