Um, they still haven't addressed the issue that the print news industry is dying. Does the new owner think that the internet is going away or something? Unofficial Tours had the right idea.

Well they have five years to figure that out...

I dont think Hudson was going broke running the stand, I just think they werent making enough money to justify extending it. I think its also a prestige thing, now Patriot News will be seen as a savior, and will get all sorts of free press. They also have the benefit of a populace that now is afraid of the kiosk is going to close, and may stop by more often, and can make claims on their website and in other venue that they operate one of the most well known news stands in the country/world.

Is Patriot News the outfit that runs the newsstand on the other side of JFK Street?

that's called Crimson Corner (used to be Nini's Corner) and I think it's a one-and-only locally owned place.

They'd install a few public computer terminals as well with a heavy firewall and proxy that lets you only get to a few news websites (like UHub..cough cough) and maybe some of the biggest e-mail services. Charge by the half hour or something for access..small fee. Probably make more in a month than what they take in from any paper sales.
