U-Hub: You Want Boston? I Got Your Boston Right Here!

So, someone mentioned that Universal Hub t-shirts might be a swell idea. I concur. We'd all like to help Adam, right? Right.

Slogans? Artwork? The floor is open for suggestions.

Personalized?

Adam - very sorry to hear the news - we've all got your back and our eyes pealed for a good journalism job.

Suldog - for a few extra bucks can we personalize them with our screen names like jerseys? :-)

Steve M (not verified) | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 4:38pm

Yeah, But...

... how many shirts would there be with "anon" on the back?

Suldog | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 4:48pm

Jersey names

A lot of anons - so they have to pay a $5 premium for the most popular jersey - kind of like Celtics jerseys with Pierce on them!

Anon (really Steve M)

Slogan

Boston revolves around Universal Hub.

Universal Hub Snuggie? Yes?

Kaz would absolutely love that I bet!

Ahh on second thought, you should stick with the tshirt.

Julie Q (not verified) | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 4:49pm

Well.....

Isn't the French Toast stuff enough?

panda | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 4:50pm

Maybe

Maybe not. We've got a very bright bunch here, IMVHO. Floating a few ideas won't hurt, right?

Suldog | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 4:52pm

Do U Hub?

that's it, sorry..

anon (not verified) | Wed, 02/04/2009 - 10:50am

Slogan

U-Hub news is local news and local news is fresh

panda | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 4:51pm

I like it!

That is inspired, panda.

Ron Newman | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 4:52pm

Thanks

Adamg likes it to- he said so.

panda | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 5:02pm

This is a good one

I do admit that "uHub" scares me so in that Web2.0 kind of way.

DON'T GO INTO BETA, ADAM!

Spatch | Wed, 02/04/2009 - 10:37am

Have To Admit...

I like this one. If Adam does, of course, then that's all that matters.

Suldog

Suldog | Wed, 02/04/2009 - 12:26pm

Slogan

"Next time bring your sistah. U Hub!"

or

Above big pic of Adam's face: "Oops, was that out loud? I must be Gaffin'."

or

"What's all the hubbub?
Find out at U Hub!"

Kaz | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 4:59pm

Another idea

Across top of shirt:
Learn the Difference

Left center of the shirt:
(cartoon of mean alligator)
Caption: Angry-gator

Right center of shirt:
(Universal Hub iconic image)
Caption: Aggregator

Across the bottom:
Universal Hub

Kaz | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 5:05pm

A ha - you are who I thought you were

Proof positive that Kaz is The Zak's (slightly) more coherent alter ego.

Steve M (not verified) | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 5:24pm

More

"Are The Stars Out Tonight?
I Don't Know If It's Cloudy Or Bright
'cause I Only Have Eyes For U-Hub!"

"Do You Attend A Hub U? Then You Should Be Reading U-Hub!"

"Universal Hub! It's Universal! It's A Hub! What More Do You Need To Know?"

Well, OK, I didn't say that I was part of that very bright bunch.

Come on, people. You know you can do better than me. Let 'em rip!

Suldog | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 5:15pm

how fortuitous!

This call to arms comes just as I was putting together a CafePress store in preparation for St. Patrick's Day. Paul McMorrow and I had a few at Foley's a couple of weeks ago and came up with a genius T-shirt idea. Or maybe it was the Guinness talking.

I'd be happy to cut Adam in for a third, in exchange for his official UHub sponsorship. Adam, you know where I live.

Harris | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 5:33pm

Fashionable and practical

Print the shirts on ShamWow fabric. It's machine washable and easily removes cola, wine and french toast stains.

kstier | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 5:45pm

a little more abstract

Thanks for bringing this up, Suldog.

I was thinking abstractly -- taking the idea of "universe", along with the T token from Adam's title bar. This is just a mockup; needs some work.

That's the Cat's Eye Nebula (NASA/Hubble image), but any exploding celestial object might do as well.

gribley | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 7:14pm

Like the Old 1980s Dr.Who Show Intro?

Maybe a token going down the old wormhole or vortex that the tardis went down?

SwirlyGrrl | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 10:24pm

this is good.

this is good.

How about a graphic of

How about a graphic of someone graffiti-ing UNIVERSAL HUB on some landmark with the caption of "Innocent, etc."?

That could be on the back, and there could be a little piece french toast on the front!

anon (not verified) | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 9:58pm

I LOVE that idea!

The "Innocent, etc." line still cracks me up when I see it!

karenz | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 11:12pm

Three shirts

"Innocent, etc." on the front - Universal Hub on the back (or sleeve.)

A stylized T-Token image (perhaps going into a MassHole) with Universal Hub inscribed on the token.

French Toast alert set up Warhol style.

modadimagno | Wed, 02/04/2009 - 1:20am

lame idea

UHub: We out the Massholes

UHub ledes make you laugh

Boston's greatest news, now at Uhub

And this is why I suck at titles.

margalit (not verified) | Tue, 02/03/2009 - 11:55pm

Slogan Idea

Universal Hub:
It really is all about us.

Bill (not verified) | Wed, 02/04/2009 - 1:24am

Contest?

If you can decide on some good slogans or whatever, it would be great to offer a contest for the actual design. The winner could get a free T-shirt. I would probably participate.

brandy (not verified) | Wed, 02/04/2009 - 9:13am

My contest entry

Simple black T-shirt with white lettering:

UNIVERSAL HUB - The Thinking Man's Boston Globe.

And before all the legal beagles tellme the million ways that would end up in a lawsuit, may I add that I am:

Innocent etc.
