Wow!
Wicked Local Roslindale reports on the arrest of some West Roxbury guy who kept going "Wow!" as he was arrested and booked on a charge of disorderly conduct:
... The police asked him what happened to his eye and he said he didn't have a cut. He also reached up to touch the cut and said "Wow!" in a mocking tone. Officers again asked him what was going on and about his cut and the man said, "Wow!" in the same mocking tone, according to police reports.
The man told police in a loud voice he was trying to get into his apartment. He was asked to produce identification and had a driver"s license that said he lived at the apartment. He repeatedly said "Wow!" in the same mocking tone, too. ...
Now, you might think it would take some balls to keep doing that. Rob Bellinger photographs a display of balls that would make the guy go "Wow!" when he gets bailed out.

Can anybody explain why the public's money being wasted to arrest, book and prosecute this loon?
Explain it in terms that us taxpayers who will pay for a WOW guy to be hassled can understand anyway.
(bonus points if you can do it without resorting to "he make cops feel like dissed junior high kids so he must pay")
What else are you supposed to do with him?
Alleged loon is allegedly standing in an apartment building and annoying the residents. And he won't shut up or leave. And it's not the first time he's done it. If I lived there, I'd probably be cheering the police.
Now it sounds like it's more a case of him needing social services than jail time. But unfortunately, there's no 911 for clinicians. Assuming he's guilty as charged, hopefully he'll get a judge who will, say, put him on probation and order him to counseling.
Ever Met Someone with Tourettes?
The guy is annoying, no doubt ... but if he isn't tresspassing (drivers license says he lives there) and isn't violent, then why is saying "WOW" a crime?
I've heard a fellow student (5th grade on) say much worse - and not be able to help it. Should she have been arrested because I was trying to read Moby Dork and couldn't concentrate because she was saying SHIT FUCK DAMN DAMN DAMN and kicking the back of the school bus seat?
True, I hadn't thought of that
And possibly his neighbors hadn't either. However, was your fellow student standing outside your door at home doing that?
Even if he does
Even if he does have Tourette's, it sounds like he was really drunk, seems to have been driving drunk, and was disturbing the peace.
Typical classist anti-police
Typical classist anti-police bigotry.
Not Whitey's world
Cops don't have to answer to anybody or anything, especially the law or the taxpayers, eh whitey?
I'm sure (Godwin) ...
They answered
Sounds like they answered a 911 call & dealt with the problem, as they should have.
They have the right to
They have the right to arrest him, it's just not clear who it serves. Read this. After they found out he lives there, they were ready to leave.
He tried to flee from what?
From...the cops?
When they noticed him being rowdy outside and waking the building, I'm sure they began to approach him again to try and quiet him (yet again). They probably said something like "Hey, settle down, and come over here" and he ran.
Disturbing the peace
I think it's this part:
Keep in mind the time: 2:21 AM. If he were my neighbor, waking me up in the wee hours by acting like an imbecile, I'd want the police to take him down to the station - especially if he'd done that before. Are you saying you wouldn't?
I completely agree. He
I completely agree. He wasn't arrested because he kept mockingly saying "Wow". He was arrested because he was disturbing the peace.
Agreed
Whatever the guy's problems might be, if I'm in that building and this stuff is going on at 2am, I say "Thank you!" to the cops.

Read The F'in Article. He was drunk, disorderly, and woke up the neighborhood with his nonsense. The police seemed to just want to help him get inside and put him to bed by helping him find his apartment keys, lock his car up, and get him inside (above and beyond if you ask me)...but he berated them for the help and then continually left his apartment to come outside and slam his car door some more in protest to their help. Then when they exited their car to try and get him to calm down and just go inside, he bolted like an idiot. He'll probably have all the charges dropped or get something like community service now that he's sobered up in the slammer for the night.
maybe
he will be found guilty of disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct and have to pay the 5K fine? That would pay for the arrest, booking and prosecution.
or maybe he will get needed mental health treatment?
or maybe the boston police union will make a donation to the American tourettes association for this horrible mistake?
