Tomorrow is Truck Day

Now that I've googled, I'm changing my vote

Been here thirty years and I didn't grok the term. But many truck pictures later (from last year's event), I'm in the know and ready to go.

If the truck sees its shadow ...

that means six more weeks of winter!

Ah...truck day!

Nothing says "pink hat" more than getting excited about a truck departing the ballpark. That being said, I'm definitely ready for some baseball.

Pink Hat?

Maybe I'm missing something, but Truck Day has been celebrated around here since at least 30 years before the advent of the pink hat.

Perhaps it has been

Perhaps it has been celebrated for 30 years, but to me it's not really much to get excited about.

Yeah, I for one am excited,

Yeah, I for one am excited, even though spring training will be a bit of a farce this year due to the World Baseball Classic. Though the WBC has the potential to be great with so many type A and B free agents dangling out there looking to strut their stuff.

WBC and farces

The real farce is that the WBC is causing the regular season to start a week later than it did last year, which means it will end a week later than it did last year, which means possible World Series games in November. Brrrr.

(And Minnesota is building an *open-air* ballpark.)

So True

MLB really should consider cutting back to the old (pre-60's) 154 game schedule. Drop 8 games, end the WS in October. Not bloody likely, of course.

Twins in the World Series

might be enough to draw attention to the problem. Until then...

The 30 clubs would bitch and

The 30 clubs would bitch and whine and never allow this, but I think the best bet would be a very brief (2 or 3 day) WBC tourney over an extended All Star break. Everyone would be warmed up to in-season health and raring to go.

Not true

I would say that only the *REAL* fans follow the advent of the first signs of spring like the equipment heading down to Spring Training ahead of the players arriving. Pink hats are the people who don't even know what the players' names are but go because it's trendy and difficult to get in.

Its true, Im a bandwagon man

Its true, Im a bandwagon man myself (no pink hat though, I like the blue and red combo myself) and I had no clue what Truck Day was. Although a pink hat fan would get excited once they found out what it meant. Me? I dont care, call me when they hit the play offs.

the excitement of truck day

Given all the excitement of truck day, I hope pink hat day has a bit more to offer. Now I'm curious. How is Truck Day celebrated? No, don't tell me. Let me guess. All the guys who work for the city bang off go drinking at Sullivan's.

I can't wait:

Everybody's Coming To My Place?

Cool. Bring your own six, though.
