This overpass should be removed, not repaired
There is no need for the section of the Bowker overpass that bridges over Beacon Street and Commonwealth Avenue, and it should be removed in order to restore the Charlesgate parkland. The overpass traffic can be routed onto Charlesgate East and Charlesgate West to get between Storrow Driver and Fenway/Park Drive/Boylston.

Would the people who live on that block of Beacon & Commonwealth think it was better or worse to have a mega-laned overpass hunk of metal or a four-lane road in each direction outside their windows?
Charlesgate is not four lanes wide
and I don't see any reason to widen it once the overpass is removed. I think each side is now 3 lanes wide.

I don't see why this choice needs to be made
Take down the overpass and move the traffic to the parallel surface streets, without widening them. Restore the area to Olmsted's original plan.
