BU cops in dogged pursuit of art thief
Boston University Police report they are looking for a bronze statue that went missing from a fifth-floor storage room at 808 Comm. Ave. sometime between Nov. 21 and now:
The missing piece is described as a large dog, approximately 6' in length and 4' tall, weighing several hundred pounds.
Hokay, I think we can see now why it was in a storage room. In any case, if you can help Detective BJ Kanavich of BU Police collar the statue, give him a call at 617-353-3436 or 617-353-2121. There's an incident number you're supposed to give, but, seriously? I'm thinking if you call up and you say you know where he could find the giant bronze dog, he'll know what you're talking about. At least, we can hope there's only one of these things.

check the scrap yard, this puppy is long gone.

Check the scrap prices - since the economy cratered, it hasn't been worth stealing metal for scrap. The yards are full.
I'm on board with the frat initiation/sports team theory. After all, I'm betting that's not just any doggie, but a terrier.
Where is it?
Probably in the same place all that decorative trim from the Longfellow Bridge is.
That dog
is in some frat house right now and it has beer games written all over it.
Other ideas
Maybe it's on the roof?
If the cops catch the thief, will they ruff him up?
When they book 'em, will the book be dog-eared?
Do they even know when the statue was stolen? I bet it happened during the dog days of summer.
More Ideas
Listen for loud sound systems in the dorm rooms. You can bet your bottom dollar you'll find a big woofer.
If it doesn't turn up there, I'd subpoena Leon Powe of the Celtics. I bet his brother Al took it.

That was hanging in the lobby of the BU Law Tower for a while...
BU Law
Yeah, so I graduated from BU Law.
Anyone else recognize that piece from the ground floor lobby?
BU Laws
That's totally from the law tower. Anyone, anyone?
Perhaps un peu ironic.
What an ugly lump of metal,
What an ugly lump of metal, the thieves did them a favor by hauling it away.
