The DCR press release I received says: "DCR will reopen the bridge Friday morning, February 13, at 5 a.m."

Also, the south sidewalk remains closed. DCR will start work on it next month, aiming to reopen it by July 4.

That's unfortunate for walkers. Access to the north-side sidewalk isn't very safe from most directions in Boston.

Plus, in addition to the danger of crossing the roads on the Boston side, recently there has been a bunch of ice on the very narrow part at the start of the sidewalk. Many people walk that part, despite it not being a full sidewalk, and they're in danger of slipping and falling into traffic.

.. and love that bridge even more. Do we know if they've actually fixed it - i.e. we expect it to be standing for decades to come - or is this just another temporary patch and it'll be crumbling again within two years? I forget.

The pedestrian thing has been a huge pain, I imagine, since it's not easy to cross back and forth the roadways.

Luckily, I haven't noticed the construction for ages, since I only commute this way inbound via the under-over-under-under method. (Taking Storrow inbound, under Charles T, over Longfellow, then under-under to double back to Land Blvd.)
