DA: Trio of teen thugs in Winthrop stabbed two other teens in the chest

John and Michael Walker: At booking.
Two Winthrop twins and a pal are charged with slicing up two kids, 16 and 13, over an earlier fight, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office says.
John and Michael Walker each face two counts each of assault with intent to murder and aggravated assault and battery. John Walker is also charged with an additional count of threats to commit a crime and malicious destruction of property. James Murray, 17, was charged two counts of assault and battery. Prosecutors had asked for $500,000 bail for John Walker; an East Boston District Court judge set his bail at $10,000.
Prosecutors allege that Walker, dissatisfied with the outcome of a fight with one of the victims on Feb. 8, went to his house that night and threw a cinderblock through his window. The next night, Walker allegedly called him out, officials say. They fought to an inconclusive end, Walker left, then returned with his brother and Murray, prosecutors say:
At about this time, John Walker began to taunt the 16-year-old with racial epithets [the older teen is black, according to police]. That victim and his younger brother came outside once again and began to fight with Murray. In the course of this altercation, the Walker brothers allegedly intervened, John Walker allegedly produced a knife, and the two victims suffered their stab wounds. ...
'Tell my mother I love her," the 16-year-old victim begged of responding Winthrop Police Officer Shawn McCarthy. The officer applied direct pressure to the wound in a bid to stop the bleeding and did his best to calm the boy.
Innocent, etc.

Half a million??? Maybe the
Half a million??? Maybe the prosecutors should have went for like 50,000 instead. Bail is supposed to be a number that could be reached , 500,000 for someone in Winthrop is more then the average house price!
Look at the charges, Shady
Maybe when and where you grew up, this was just called "oh boys will be boys", but attempted murder isn't kid stuff. Being a good little boy about town who just mixes it up once in a while and bullies and terrorizes other kids isn't tolerated anymore either, because it is called assault and harassment.
Lots of good kids who did nothing other than be targets died before real attention was paid to this sort of nonsense. Now you think these kids who pull knives and are charged with attempted murder should be free to continue their allegedly fine work because they live in Winthrop? Puhleeze.
Given the hate crime angle here, I hardly expect their parents to understand and keep them under control either - they learned this shit somewhere, or somebody didn't come down hard on it in a memorable way or endorsed it somewhere along the line.
um I dont recall a stabbing
um I dont recall a stabbing ever just being boys will be boys... Your making gross assumptions. Whats the use of putting up a bail of 500,000 they would never be able to get that sum of cash. If the people can never dream of posting bail then lets not raise the bail to that level, if we dont want them out at all then dont set a bail, make the case that they are a threat to society. Our court system has a presumption of innocence, or didnt they teach you that in the wild west? That is why the judge set it at 10,000 because thats a reasonable sum, but is enough money that is found the perp wont flee town. I would rather see it set a little higher myself, but the state screws itself by asking for some ungawdly sum like 500,000 knowing that the perp and his family could never get that sort of cash.
Well, Michael doesn't seem
Well, Michael doesn't seem very worried about the whole thing...
winthrop stabbings
I think the victims are not telling the whole truth and I like how the D.A. Stated they threw a cinderblock through the victims window, even though the Hulk would not be able to do it because they live on the third floor. Also in my opinion the courts and WPD are only putting it on the twins because of the infamous MacDonald twins, also it takes two or more people to tango.
The window in question was
The window in question was on the front door, not the third floor. No super strength necessary there.
This "article" is a perfect
This "article" is a perfect example of how news reporting has become nothing but sensationalism and the recounting of incomplete facts.
There is no doubt that what happened is a bad thing, but when all of the facts come out you will see that those innocent victims- the two brothers, were not so innocent.
I would like to know where the police photos were obtained and where the statement of the officer fits in- "Tell my mother I love her"...Talk about cheap sensationalism. Do you know where the boys father was during the melee? He was right there. Wouldnt you think a resposible adult might have done something more to stop the nonsense?
You and the Winthrop police have already unfoundedly convicted these boys. Nice work. Shame on me- as an Ameican I thought it was innocent until proven guilty. There are mitigating circumstances and the truth will come out. Let's not condemn anyone until we know the whole story AND get the facts straight. Until then maybe someone should shut you down.
The boy's audible statement
The boy's audible statement was made before a crowd of about 20 people. They had gathered there because two kids, ages 16 and 13, had been stabbed. I don't know why you think the father was present for the fight -- certainly he was present after his son was stabbed in the chest -- and I don't know why that would mitigate the deliberate act of pulling a knife and stabbing someone else in the chest.
herb
They live on the third floor believe me i know!
Alleged? Put them away
two smiling idiots, one poor justice system, and a bad article.
ALLEGEDLY a knife was used... but in context of the word, "ALLEGED" there would have been no proof that they were stabbed, no proof of the occurrence, and no arrests due to a lack of evidence... but, here we have a case and two victims in the hospital. That points out that something happened. Apparently by the hands of these two smiling little girls.
So, as pictured above, two soft and feminine looking boys. Unable to pull up a fist in a fight, making up for lack of any strength by using a knife or other weaponry. We call these types weaklings, if not anything else much harsher. - but, since they be rich, of course they get their second chance. or if they had actually raped or murdered anyone, in this judicial system, they'd be out for another chance at crime. One fault in connection with another, two idiots, and an idiotic system.
The phrase "John Walker
The phrase "John Walker allegedly produced a knife" doesn't imply uncertainty that a knife was used. It reflects the specific allegation that John Walker used it.
All defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty, but when the state threatens the liberty of a citizen it is obliged to produce some foundation for that threat. The state must also, however, acknowledge that a prosecutor's theory of a given case is a mere allegation until a jury finds otherwise or the defendant admits to the offense. The alternatives -- arresting someone without explaining why on the one hand, or unilaterally stating that a certain person committed a certain crime on the other -- just aren't consonant with our system of justice.
Dear Brave "anon (not verified)"
You say these things like you think that being a girl is a bad, evil thing - or at least like you think being female or feminine is inferior in every way, so inferior that calling someone a girl or describing them as feminine the ultimate insult.
The term you are looking for here is COWARD. Gender ain't got shit to do with it. Yeah, females are so weak and fearful ... that's why they give birth and males don't. That's why you mess with mama bears. Yeah.
Next time, why don't you post this with your name and address. Then we will know how brave you are in comparison to these two alleged cowardly losers.
