Opposite ends of the North End dining spectrum

North End Nudists Unite appreciates the Daily Catch, also on Hanover, for its complete lack of charm:

... It's raw and real. Broken mirrors and scratched wooden chairs.

There's no cheesy busts or Venetian tourist-shop paintings on the walls.

Plus - it may be the only restaurant in the North End that doesn’t blast Italian Opera music at all hours of the day.

There is a special place in my heart for an establishment that cuts out the crap and sticks to the one thing they do right. The food. ...

This is one of my favorite

This is one of my favorite places in the North End. The squid ink pasta is amazing.

Ristorante Fiore is great

Ristorante Fiore is great food, but it's overpriced and takes itself a little too seriously. It's an attempt to feel more cultured and high class, when the Best places in the North End try to scream Italian villa.

Personally I'd recommend Al Dente on Salem St as my favorite. Granted it's small, but it's dishes are excellent and remind me of my Italian grandmothers cooking, and the family that staffs and runs it are a hoot.

Fiore would better for large gatherings thou.
