An independent jumps into 3rd Suffolk race

John KeithJohn Keith, a South End real-estate broker, blogger and columnist, today pulled papers to run in the June 16 election to replace state Rep. Sal DiMasi.

Campaign Web site.

Keith's statement follows:

I wanted you to be among the first to know that I am running for 3rd Suffolk District State Representative. The 3rd Suffolk District includes Boston's South End, North End, Chinatown, Bay Village, Waterfront, and Financial District neighborhoods, as well as parts of Roxbury and Beacon Hill.

I am very excited about this. I have fresh ideas and a unique point of view. Because of this, I believe I will be an effective state legislator. I am committed to improving people's lives, both in my community and throughout the Commonwealth.

The most-important issues to us right now are the economy, public health and welfare, and the role of government in our lives. I have specific proposals to address each of these issues and many more; details will be forthcoming on my website, this week.

If people have a question or want to know more, there's a 'contact me' form on my website, at http://johnakeith.com, or they can leave a comment on your site and I'll try to respond.

By the way, I am running as an Independent; the other announced-candidates will be facing-off in the Democratic Primary on May 19th. I will meet the winner of that primary in the Special Election, on June 16th.

It's like getting a phone

It's like getting a phone call from someone, and they just keep saying "Hello... hello.... hello..."

Not ready for prime time. Then again - Sam Yoon's blog hasn't been touched for a couple of years. If I'm old enough to be your dad, you should get this blog thing a little better than me.

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he will spend all his time answering comments. That's better than useless web sites.

he won't be getting the dog lover vote. I can see his slogan now, "One man, one vote, one more overpriced restaurant for Tremont St."

won't get the dog lover vote?

By deselby | Wed, 03/04/2009 - 11:12am

Why, is he against allowing dogs to defecate in playgrounds?

Thank you

Thank you for all your comments.

It's true, my website is not ready for prime time. I wanted to have it ready by yesterday, but jumped the gun. You will find, however, that once it's up, it will include a lot of useful information.

In the meantime, you can reach me by email or by twitter.
