The Boston Globe may be cutting back local news coverage in the city, but out past 128, they've just added a new Your Town page.

A completely different hyperlocal strategy at the Mother Ship

Compare Your Town sites, which look basically like a newspaper site, with The Local, which is the Times's foray into hyperlocal. Pretty striking difference. Also, the Times is using slave labor CUNY college students to help build the things.

This is not new and predates the internet. The wealthier "sylvan suburbs" (was that Donald Murray's term?) have always got way more Globe coverage than their populations would warrant. The Herald used to do a better job of covering the city, before it went all right-wing.
