To make up for all the hullaballoo yesterday, they'll be looping a U2 movie on March 26; free for Somerville residents.

Very class move, Somerville
Very class move, Somerville Theatre! Enjoy the movie, everyone.
Wicked classy to give us
Wicked classy to give us limited seating for free propaganda for the people who made our lives hell for the last couple of days. Yeah.
Made your lives hell? How so?
I live a block and a half from the theatre, and this event didn't disrupt my life in any significant way.
The only significant
The only significant "disruption" I experienced was having to wade thru a ton of OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG messages in my Twitter feed, and that was easily solved by temporarily removing the Davis Square aggregator.
Now I'm feeling indignant that I don't get a chance to be irrationally indignant about the whole thing.
Anyway, I think this is a real nice gesture on the part of the Somerville Theater, regardless of what Grumpy Anon says. I wonder if s/he'll now go back to complaining about flyovers.
Lost a client, missed an
Lost a client, missed an appointment, was late for another due to traffic detours.
Housemate was late for two job interviews (one unexpected, the other was able to warn then).
Won't even get into the messups construction folks had there for a couple days.
Glad to hear that you personally didn't have any problems, though. Given that you're the President of Somerville and everything, I guess it negates the problems of all the Little People around here.
Driving, Not U2
I don't live far from there - that's a typical day in Davis, IMHO. If you don't want delays, don't drive in that area. The place can turn into a massive high grade mess on any given day at any given time if you are trying to drive through there. If you want/have to be inside a car, there are lots of other ways to get around that area from any direction.
The best solution(s) then:
A) If the weather is adequate and not too cold for your liking, ride your bicycle if you've got one.
B) Take public transportation. The Red Line runs underground in Davis Square, etc., and it'll save wear and tear on your nerves.
Only two minor side streets were ever closed during U2 concert
those being Dover Street and Meacham Road -- and only a block of each one. Why would this cause you to lose a client or miss an appointment?
You COULDN'T drive to this U2 concert
I was at a friend's house a two minute walk away and it was impossible to tell anything was going on.
Audience members weren't even allowed to drive there. The band even bussed them in from the Museum of Science.
If the U2 movie showings on March 26 are only for Somervillians,
then anybody who lives close enough to walk or bike to Davis Square shouldn't have a problem, imho.

Indymind, Please Look at a Map
Check out the theater location on Google Maps, please. Your humble opinion is way off if you think only Somerville is within walking or even impact distance.
Cambridge is at most 1/4 mile from the theater, and Medford is just over the hill.
I don't live in Somerville, but my kids bike to Davis Square quite frequently, I bike through the area all the time, and I have even walked home with a flat bike tire at 2am.
Cambridge and Davis Square
I'm a block and a half from the theatre. I'm in Somerville, but the house next door is in Cambridge. The city line is that close to Davis Square.
Anyone can go to the U2 movie, but only Somerville residents will get in for free.
I do happen to live in Somerville, SwirlyGrrl.
I live close enough so that I can bicycle or even walk to Davis Square during the day. However, because I live in the part of Somerville that's sort of a little "no man's land" between Union Square and East Cambridge, inotherwords an isolated little area that gets a little wierd at night, most likely beccause it's so isolated. If I go to Davis square at night, or during stormy weather for any reason, I always know that I'll never get a space close to where I'm going, so I park afew blocks away from Davis Square and walk the rest of the way in. There are times in stormy weather that I'ved hoofed it (gone on foot) to the MBTA station and taken the Red Line to Davis Square. No big deal.
About Cambridge and Medford also being within easy walking distance to Davis Square, you're right up to a point. Not all parts of Cambridge, Medford or even Somerville are within walking distance to Davis Square, but require public transportation, such as bus service or whatever.
Hmmmmmm ..... Sounds cooool!
I'll try to make it!! Yeehaa!
So they're showing the movie several times on that day.
Does that mean that people will have to camp out near the theatre in order to get in? LOL!
