Something they can't just paper over

Susan Labandibar, president of Tech Networks of Boston, writes to the CEO of Kimberly-Clark to explain how none of the users of her company's four restrooms will ever put Kimberly-Clark toilet paper to their tushes as long as it continues to purchase pulp from Canadian Boreal forests.

Maybe she should circulate a petition to get K-C to change its policies. Just make sure respondents use a number two pencil.

I signed such a petition (or boycott pledge) in Harvard Yard maybe 3 years ago.

I observed the boycott for one year, but I never heard anything from the organizers as to whether we'd brought Big Paper to its knees. So I resumed not paying attention to who makes my paper products, so long as they're 2-ply.

Those evil Canadians clear-cutting virginal forests. Those forests are meant for beetles and must never be touched by the destructive hands of humans!

(Virginal is a misleading phrase. Deflowered forests can and do restore their virginal characteristics)

Agreed. I'm sick and tired of those damn Canadians. They don't even celebrate Thanksgiving on the right day!
