in Macy's, or above it?

What used to be the upper floors of Jordan Marsh are now a big data center. This sounds like a more likely location for such an accident.

The Globe report says it happened on the fourth floor, which belongs to the data center, not Macy's.

Update: One person hurt, no acid spill

The Herald actually talks to the Fire Department (rather than just re-broadcasting first-responder tweets), reports one person was hurt when a short or something caused a battery in a fourth-floor backup-power room exploded. The person who was hurt took the Red Line to Mass. General, so he must not have been too severely injured.

He better not have been severely injured

He better not have been severely injured if he placed his life in the hands of the Red Line. He could have bled out on the ride between DTX and Charles if there had been switching problems at Alewife.

Or the converse

I think the fact that he took the Red Line demonstrates just how badly he was injured:

He believed that the Red Line would get you somewhere quickly.

Poor guy's delusional. Probably has a traumatic brain injury. (I saw it on E.R.)

good point

"Ungh... I'm okay to move... let me on the train!"

"No! You're staying put until the ambulance arrives."

"But it's ... it's only two stops! We'll be there in... no time!"

"Listen, this is for your own good. Hold him down, everybody!"

Thankfully just one

Initial reports said 4 victims were hurt; thankfully only one person was, and thankfully it appears he/she is not too badly injured.

I hope the Red Line didn't get stuck between stops...

I always wondered about this

I always wondered about this building. My office overlooks it and on the roof there is this sort of balcony like platform that looks like something a helicopter would land on but I don't think it's actually big enough for a helicopter. I stare at it all day and wonder what it is for.
