"Although there were conflicting reports as to what exactly prompted the scare, an official on the scene said the source of the scare was "a suspicious package in the mailbox" in front of the Bank of America and that the bomb squad "took care of it.""
Bomb squad response is one area in which we are developing capability to defend against potential terrorist/criminal actions, *without* encroaching on basic American principles.
When there is a vague report of a suspicious package, I want someone who can handle it, whatever it is, to be on their way.
Some other things that we have done under the pretense of fighting terrorism are not near as defensible.
