The surgeon from hell

Dr. T, who is an anesthesiologist, says she has a lot of respect for most surgeons, even if they are sometimes more impatient than an anesthesiologist would prefer. But then there's the cutter she refers to as Dr. Myrtha Banshee. It's probably just as well she uses a pseudonym, because Doc Banshee would lose all her patients after they read what she did to one little girl who needed surgery.

The surgeon seemed upset

The surgeon seemed upset that the biological mother wanted to kiss her child for good luck. Just because she does not have custody, I dont want to get into the possibilities, does not mean she should not have the ability to wish her daughter well , especially if those in custody approve and encouraged it. I think sometimes people go into things to help people (doctors, lawyers, politicians, non profit people, social workers, police officers, fire fighters) and then allow their hearts to be hardened over time because they slam against the hard truth of reality. The line between selfless and selfish becomes blurred which is sad because Im sure the 17 year old versions of themselves would never approve of that sort of behavior.

I suspect Dr. Banshee's objection....

... was that nonsense like "kisses for good luck" (from anyone -- not just a non-custodial parent) was just a waste of Dr. Banshee's precious time.

Infection control?

I wonder if there was a legitimate reason for her to object, though -- a possibility of transmitting germs?

And so she took it out on the poor kid

By sticking something in her when she wasn't completely unconscious (and then nicking an artery).

Ptrobably no malice

Sticking the kid before she was properly anesthetized was probably done dispassionately, so as not to waste precious Dr. Banshee's precious time.

Question Asked At Blog

I asked this of Dr. T, but if anyone here knows the answer...

Is there some sort of ethics board to which you could report such behavior?
