Paula Ebben at Channel 4 wonders if it's seemly for a newspaper to seek help from the people it normally covers or whether it makes sense for politicians to show support "for a huge local business and employer under siege by an out-of-state owner?"

Channel 4 and every other broadcast outlet in Boston had better hope that the Globe continues to publish. Otherwise, we won't have much to hear/see on local newscasts.

The Globe is a huge local supplier of jobs, and those workers are not the reporters. Its two different sets of people. Its not like the person who delivers your daily paper writes the editorials or contributes to the Ideas section of the Sunday Globe.
