Green Line notes

Interesting ride to North Station on the Green Line tonight. Got to Boylston eastbound about 5:45. Approaching trains were backed up towards Arlington, and I could see trains in the tunnel east of Boylston stopped all the way to Park Street. Didn't think much of it, as this is usually normal for afternoon rush hour.

I was expecting the GC train behind us as we left Boylston to be re-routed into Park Street because of the slow pace, but that didn't happen.

Then an interesting thing happened to us. Once we loaded up at Park Street, we ran all the way to Government Center and didn't have to stop until just outside the station. Looking at the westbound side, there was one train entering Park Street as we left, and a second train leaving Government Center as we entered.

It's almost as if they were intentionally limiting the number of trains running in the tunnel between Park Street and Government Center at any given time. Couldn't tell if the signals have been rewired (I was on the second car of the train), but there were officials on the platform at both Park eastbound and GC westbound.

But both were interesting

Without veering anywhere near railfanboy territory :-).

They Were Coupled!

You know, like green line trains are!

Yep

I tweeted this right when I got to Park.

Very lame. Trains were literally backed up to Kenmore (as far as I could see when we took the switch from Prudential. Got to Copley at 5:58 PM and to Park Street at 6:20 PM if that gives you any idea how slow things were going there eastbound.

Ouch - 25 minutes Copley to Park is

just plain horrible!
