I live around the corner, and noticed that the same "The Brickhouse will be closed for a private party" sign has taped to the door for about a month.
Frankly, I thought the place had great potential but was ultimately disappointing. My wife and I took the kids there for dinner and ordered take out from there a few times, but the service was sooooo sloooow and the kitchen never seemed to get their act together (An hour+ for a pizza on a weeknight? Come now.) that after a few tries we just gave up on it.
It has looked closed to me too. I thought this place had potential too but after trying the place out about three times last year, I gave up on the Brickhouse. The burgers were lousy, the service was absolutely horrible (EXTREMELY SLOW even with only a few customers) and they always seemed to be out of half of the beers on tap.

As for Nancy's, I didn't realize there was such a big market in Greater Roslindale for kitschy figurine lamps.
