Real Tacos, (or Taqueria Real), at 860 Dorchester Avenue.

It's great.

You know, I keep forgetting that place is there, even though it's probably a 6-7 minute walk from my place. I think it's probably because I think of the other side of Columbia Rd. as being some distant foreign land for some reason.

(I wrote the linked-to subject of this UHub post, btw.)

There's probably another taqueria somewhere in Dot, but it's not like how it was when I lived in Somerville, where there's a tasty Mexican (or other Central/South American) place every 12 feet. The precise nature of that difference is difficult to express within the confines of a single tweet.

Just replied on your blog. Should have come here first, but you should really walk to the other side of Columbia Road (aka The Polish Triangle). There's actually quite a few good places to eat over here, including Real Tacos / Taqueria Casa Real, the Avenue Grille, 224, SugarBowl Cafe, and Cafe Polonia (good Polish food) and the newly opened New Market Farm Stand. All we're missing is a good pizza shop and bar.

There's the aforementioned up by St. Margaret's or whatever it's called now, plus in the South Dorchester neighborhood of Quincy, there's La Paloma, which is excellent as well as Chipotle, which is good for a chain.

St. Margaret's and St. William's were both suppressed, replaced with Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, housed in the old St. Margaret's.

That sounds pretty drastic. Did they do something especially awful to deserve this?

Nothing bad. In this case it's just Catholic church-speak for 'closed'.
