You'd almost think it's Labor Day weekend: Another dumb trucker on Storrow Drive
By adamg - Fri, 05/22/2009 - 11:17am.
Roving traffic reporter John Keith alerts us that a truck driver just narrowly avoided turning his vehicle into a peeled-back sardine can just before Mass. General; is now in the process of backing up to the Copley exit.
Yesterday:
Another trucker was not so lucky.

Shouldn't have to back up to Copley
Just exiting to Charles Circle should be sufficient to avoid the low clearance.
Hey morons, what part of no
Hey morons, what part of no commercial vehicles on Storrow drive do you not understand?
Make it painful to use a non-truck routed GPS program
I have to believe that the majority of these failures at driving are due to large vehicle drivers using GPS devices to route themselves out of Beacon Hill and onto 93. It's almost worth something like doubling or tripling the ticket when one of these drivers ends up on Storrow if they're found to possess a simple Garmin device instead of something programmed like this one with truck restriction routing.
No GPS (just stupid) or truck-routing GPS = $200 plus any damage caused.
Car-routing GPS = $500 plus any damage caused.
Something like that.
Another Idea
Require rental trucks to provide Truck Route GPS to anybody planning on dropping their truck off in Eastern MA or wherever this happens to be a problem.
