As much as I like Christopher Walken..
...when watching hockey out in smaller towns, we used to ring cowbells when someone scored a goal. I need a cowbell for when folks score around here.
Guitar Center, Daddy's Junky Music...
... pretty much any musical instrument shop will have a bunch.
That's news I can use
Because we all need a little more cowbell
say
Didja try Rockin Bob's next to Johnny D's on Holland? There's a buncha instruments in there, and maybe they'll give you a test ring.
you know what we need?
More. More of this, please.
not to get too snarky, but....
...people still find this funny? What was that, 2002? If you are all still cracking up over this, I've got some riotous OJ jokes to tell you.
oj killed two people (allegedly)
thats not quite as funny as wil farrell's belly hanging out.
No he didn't!
He couldn't have-- the police found a Super Bowl ring at the scene.
It seems like you have a fever
And the only prescription is More Cowbell!
You should learn more about humor. One of the reasons it's still funny is that it's NOT tied to any news or occurrence from when it happened (like, say, an OJ joke). Ferrell's over the top performance as "the cowbell guy" was mostly ad-lib and he's a king at that. Walken has a special place in comedy because his unique speaking style makes him an obvious target for imitation, plus he's a consummate professional when it comes to everything he's ever done, including drama, comedy, v-logs, and even a music video. It all came together so well in that SNL skit and the internet helped it take off even further as everyone else made their own creative and equally funny take-off on the meme (the best I ever saw was an application that would take any mp3 you uploaded, analyze the music, and add a cowbell track in time AND pattern with the music...along with random Walken quotes from the skit if you wanted as well).
This is a classic comedy bit that is honed in part due to a new media wave via the internet. It won't ever stop being funny because it is rooted in so many reasons why we find things funny. But I'll defer to your line of reasoning; I assume we might as well go burn all of the Buster Keaton and Marx Brother film reels this instance!
That stick up your ass?
That stick up your ass? Once removed (and cleaned), it can be used to play the cowbell.
Yup, we do.
Because it still _is_ funny. 2002 might seem like half a lifetime ago-- and in your case, it might well be-- but that sketch is in the "forever funny" category for many people. If you have something funny to add, then add it in and take your seat at the grownups table; if not, you're going to have to shut up and wait until you graduate. From a good school.
