New Green Line station opens, so of course the signals fail

As the new Arlington station opens on its first weekday, the Green Line is all bollixed up due to some sort of signal problem at Copley AND a broken train at Government Center. The riders are restless; something about spending 20 or 25 minutes sitting in a tunnel will do that to you - especially if it all adds up to a 50-minute ride from Kenmore to Copley - or a 40 minute ride between St. Mary's and Kenmore with "no air conditioning, no seat, no explanation." The lucky ones brought reading material.

The wheels of justice grind slowly on the T.

Rockefeller himself claims he was delayed by problems on the Fuschia Line.

Keeping us informed about the latest Green Line problem as it happens shows the Internet at its best.

I also walked from Hynes to Boylston in 25 minutes and was late to work. The driver said "If you have an alternative route, use it."

It also took us 25 minutes to go from Kenmore to Hynes.

UH is a more reliable source of current information about T service than the T itself!

I would have gotten off in Kenmore, except we were told the delay would just be a few minutes. Every five minutes or so during the delay, the conductor repeated the same line about a signal failure at Copley, as though new people had boarded who might benefit from this information. At Hynes, the driver himself advised us to get out and walk. That I did--45 minutes late to work. Just a week and a half ago I had to walk from Kenmore to Govt. Center.

Every day that I ride my bike lately, it seems there is some epic fail on the MBTA that messes up much if not all of the system.

Not sure if I'm lucky or if my bikes are cursed.

Almost a year ago, I left the MBTA's B Line to Red Line commute for my scooter. I hear and read horror stories that get crazier and crazier every day about the MBTA. I just thought it was their way of giving me the best customer service for having decided not to ride the MBTA! I just never realized it would extend to even after I'd stopped using it regularly!

It took an hour today to get from St. Mary's to Hynes. They blamed a signal failure at Copley and a medical emergency at Kenmore. Ugh.

I was on the T this morning on which one of the passengers had a medical emergency. We were stopped somewhere underground between St. Mary's and Kenmore when this passenger started showing signs of distress. We alerted the driver (who came back at one point to check out the scene), and luckily there was a doctor on board.

What was absolutely appalling, however, was that we were given no priority within the tunnel to get to Kenmore. We just sat waiting in the tunnel despite the fact that we had a medical emergency on board. I think (I hope) that this passenger was okay, but I just couldn't believe there was nothing that could be done to get our car to the station more quickly.

The MTA has done a great job renovating the wall finishes on some of the earliest NY stations. Those Spring St mosaics and ceiling moldings are 105 years old!

Small typo: I think the phrase is spelled "bollocksed up"

Either way, I somehow seem to be amazingly lucky and only occasionally get hit by this crap on the T. Maybe it's having to get to work for 8:30...
