T: Orange Line driver caught red-eared violating ban on cell phones

Had a Bluetooth headset on when a supervisor spotted him getting off a train last week; suspended 10 days for violating the T's zero-tolerance cellphone ban, which was not-so-quietly enacted after that Green Line crash oh so long ago.

From the wbz.com item linked in the original post...
Quote 1:
"The driver was suspended for 10 days. 'We meant what we said about strict adherence to this cell phone ban,' said MBTA General manager Daniel Grabauskas."
Quote 2:
"Using a cell phone triggers an automatic 30-day suspension with recommendation for firing, as does a second charge of carrying a phone."
Why not a 30 day suspension, then? Why not fire him if he violated two parts of the policy?
possession vs. use
different offenses, with different penalties.
the article wasn't clear on that
Wait...
What color were his hands before?
What a dumbsh*t
I understand the suspension for the rule violation, but what's the penalty for such willful stupidity? Good heavens.
And in the latest example of
And in the latest example of reporters not knowing much about what they report, WBUR this morning stated that a "trolley operator" has been suspended for wearing a bluetooth on the Orange Line. Trolley operator? Really? Maybe his supervisor should be suspended for assigning the wrong equipment.
Wonder how much money
Bluetooth paid WBZ et. al. for mentioning their product in the news story?
Bluetooth
is a protocol, not a product or company.
I wish more people would use the proper name for Bluetooth earpieces, which is "Douchetooth earpiece"

Great, now I have to bring up ...
That Bluetooth is named for Harald Bluetooth, an early Danish king, for no reason that I could ever figure out back when I cared about stuff like why there's no IPv5.
but, there was an IPv5 that
but, there was an IPv5 that never "caught on".

zbert - thanks
for the clarification.
