In a world turned upside down, Boston ranked a courteous city for drivers

I know, I know: What?!? The Boston Business Journal reports that some survey found that not only is Boston not in a list of the top ten rudest cities for driving, it's actually ninth on a list of the top ten most courteous cities for driving. Compare to the 2008 survey, which found us second only to Miami in road raginess.

Temper, temper.
The Garfield doll with the suction cups is coming off the rear window.
I wonder ...
Was the number of traffic tickets issued per capita their metric of niceness?
maybe they did their study
maybe they did their study in JP... I've never come across more courteous drivers in my life, and i grew up in the midwest....
As crazy as this sounds,
As crazy as this sounds, I've found the drivers around here to be more accommodating than the ones when I lived outside of San Francisco. Around there, if you have to switch lanes in slower moving traffic, it's common to see people pretend not to see you as they go past, but I find here people will almost always let you go.
I think traffic flows pretty
I think traffic flows pretty well here if you know where you are and what you're doing, but that one little mistake will get you an earful and a bird-flip or two.
When I was living and
When I was living and driving more in the burbs I found more people were total asshats. Since I've been living and commuting locally only in the city, not so much (except cab drivers). It made me start to loathe driving outside of the city. If your only real driving experience is passing through on 93, the Pike, or downtown, yeh it's pretty unsavory.
Asshats know no bounds
I have a somewhat unique perspective, since my job involves driving around all of the Boston neighborhoods throughout the day. I'm, um, lucky that I get to witness driving habits outside of rush hour. Or something.
The rotaries in Southie are usually full of asshats. People in the Fenway area don't understand the laws about not blocking intersections. Drivers in parts of Mattapan enjoy enabling people who think that they can cross the street anywhere they feel like it and/or when there's a big red hand facing them. People in parts of West Roxbury don't seem to understand what the solid yellow line means in regards to passing.
Asshats: they're everywhere you want to be.
Heh, I like this list
Brighton asshats wouldn't know what a red light meant if you t-boned them at every intersection.
Cambridge asshats can't find their gas pedals when the light goes green.
Brookline asshats ignore clearly marked turn only lanes.
