If Sullivan hadn't gone bankrupt, he wouldn't have sold the team to Kiam, who wouldn't have then turned around and sold it to Kraft to Orthwein, who sold it to Kraft.

kiam sold them to james orthwein. he(orthwein) wanted to move the team to st louis. kraft bought the team from orthwein.

i think that was to try to get some money from the state for gillette stadium. Once he realized nothing would come of it he stayed here anyways.
