The secret is the cream

It was warm but not sweltering yesterday as thousands of Bostonians stood in the sun downing clam chowder. Ned Devine's won, followed by Parker's and Farmer Brown's.

The spoon might bend easier without the chowder on it.

I was underwhelmed by most of the chowders, although I loved that the Yankee Lobster Company got into the mood by having everyone dress as pirates.

They should stick to music - it was the only "chowder" (if you can call it that) I didn't finish, because I couldn't.

Chowder in the summer

I must admit, chowder is about the last thing I think about in the summer. I don't brew dark beer in the summer, either, for similar reasons. Dark, thick, hearty, heavy... not in this weather!
