Never try to re-light a dud firecracker

Maria Ciampa learned that lesson in a Revere parking lot on Saturday:

...And now, I would have to teach yoga the next day with a braised finger, and how can I justify being a person who is trying to impart yogic principles of being ethical and non-violent when I light illegal firecrackers and am not even cool enough to not almost blow myself up? Okay, universe, lesson learned! I'll stay away from firecrackers and stick to making collages from my old Real Simple magazines while I listen to my "Pretty in Pink" Pandora station in my room. ...

I can't see any de facto logical connection between "ethical" and "legal" nor between "non-violence" and "firecrackers"

these pairings do travel together at times, but they are rather independent of one another and come together, when they do, only because we will them to.

----

Some of the most ethical, non-violent acts in the history of our world were illegal.

And on the flip side, many forms of violence are legal, and some are practiced by the very authority that makes law.

So, Dharma, enjoy those firecrackers. Enjoy life. Make noise and bright lights sometimes. Just don't be a dumb shit when handling explosives.
