Red Sox writer, Shaughnessy critic, passes away

...The guy's book came out around a time he was struggling mightily with his health. Overall, it was a good contribution to the avalanche of books about the Red Sox. I hope he got some deserved satisfaction out of that.

I read that as "Dan Shaughnessy has died," and got all giddy, yet guilty as if I'd laughed at an inappropriate joke. Then I read the headline again, and just sort of felt awkward.
