Not so fast!

Hilarious... One of my favorite couch potatoes lives in JP. Still, can't blame them for playing-up their own, positive, mythology about the neighborhood. Parts of the neighborhood are pretty neat.

Ruined

JP used to be a nice real funky place until the hipsters as in the video moved in on it and turned it into a manufactured funky place.

I think the hipsters are

I think the hipsters are cute.

Ahhh... so those hipsters

Ahhh... so those hipsters then were better than these hipsters now.

I didn't watch the video

I didn't watch the video yet. I was just thinking of the cute hipsters who give me coffee in the AM.

Whit

Of course!

The old hipsters had so much more style and zazz-- the new hipsters, with their hats and their facial hair and their bicycles, are just poseurs.

But seriously, if you're saying that you were a during some neighborhood's (imagined) golden age, did you ever consider that maybe someone else thinks that _you_ ruined _their_ neighborhood?

"those" hipsters happen to

"those" hipsters happen to own and run an awesome hat shop, contribute to the retail diversity of centre street, are quite sociable and friendly, and have free, late night parties with music and food and drink quite frequently. Their's is an incredible asset to the neighborhood, and i'm proud to be both a customer and a neighbor.

The message gained extra meaning...

...once I saw that the link is to a Realtor's site.

And also, "JP: where the women defer to the men, and don't seem too happy." Really?

sittin' around

c'mon. jp isn't for couch potatoes? pfff. I love jp and I love hunkering down on my couch. the "hipsters" (whoever they are) have not overrun jp. it's such a diverse neighborhood. I confess, the hippie kids annoy me sometimes, but then I just go watch tv and feel better.

great sneer

when he talks about sitting on the couch.

Salmagundi = very nice people

The couple who runs Salmagundi (above) are very nice people. They donate stuff to charities and they are really supportive of local artists.

OK, so I'm from Rozzie not JP

I'm a acknowledged couch potato but I LOVE JP and the above Salmagundi 'hipsters'. Really. Go by the store. You'll see. Great folks.

jp has room for schlubs too!

One of the many reasons I like JP is that it's got room for a lot of different people in ways that go beyond traditional "diversities." Sure it's left-leaning, but there's also a lot of live-and-let-live in its everyday 'tude.
