Does anyone have enough plant knowledge to use one of those plant identifier database things on the web? I tried that, and it asked me if it was lichenous or gramanoid or an angiosperm and I got scared and closed the window.
Use the GardenWeb forums on the inter-tube thingies. There is a particular forum devoted to identifying mystery plants called "Name That Plant".
There are a lot of knowledgable people there -- not just home gardeners, but also horticulturalists and vendors. You'll get an answer in hours (or less).
