The latter sounds like he enjoys his job, and wants to talk to people. Why can't he run the T?

I love when drivers talk. My favorite is a driver for the 39 bus. He has his bus decorated with Sox, Celtics, and Bruins figurines. He always greets you when you enter and tells you goodbye when you leave.

For instance, the guy I used to see on the 39 with the very large crucifix around his neck who repeatedly proclaimed "Out, Satan, in the name of Jesus!" and scowled & grumbled at passengers. Classic.
