Rob once worked at WHDH as one of the people who typed in the on-screen text. He says Gross was, to put it kindly, arrogant: Good riddance. Bring me his head on a platter.
Hello. Where do you come up with this arrogant stuff about Todd Gross- no one has ever heard of it. Give sonme examples or proof if you have any. Instead of a one line cheap shot. Like in a letter I sent to HDH, even if he was a little stuck up- who cares- if he backed it up by his performance. Its what the viewers care about thats whats important. I work with lots of people- some easy going, some arrogant- but if they hit goal- there arent going any where- nor should they. A crockload of people are assembled to get Todd bavk on TV- so you are in quite the minority.
After watching 'Todd Gross' all these years; my impression is that, of the 'team 7' personalities he displayed the most humility AND competence. Franky he was the ONLY reason I (used to) watch channel 7 news.
Legal 'shenanigans' (not discretion) will probably prevent the public from ever knowing the actual reasons for Todd's dismissal; but you'd have to be more than 'a little niave' to think it had anything to do with arrogance!
At the risk of sounding cynical; "arrogance and hubris" are highly admired traits in American culture. My impression is that it's a minimum requirement for success in the corporate world!
But most importantly, time is precious. Too get my attention, you'd better know what you're talking about. In this regard; Todd was worthy!
I just want to add that I miss Todd Gross. Nobody else on the 7 news team reports weather like him. Pete is okay, but he's just that - okay. He's very corny and seems like he tries to educate people on weather terms like Todd did, but he doesn't quite get it right. The other day, he started explaining something and got off-track and never even finished the thought.
Anyways, I think his personality was stale. Yeah weather is weather, but a REAL personality makes it much better and relateable...as with anything. When managers hire people, there are hundreds of people that can get the job done, but the person hired is someone who stood out for whatever reason - maybe it's because of personality and synergy with the rest of the team or whatever...so it's that important to have a worker - or weatherman - with personality and knowledge too.
