The local columnists are calling out Patrick and Aloisi for their, um, well, what sure look like lies related to T fare hikes. And both Scott Lehigh and Howie Carr both quote Sir Walter Scott.
Lehigh: Actually, maybe Sir Walter Scott said it better: “Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive."
Carr: Does anyone still read Sir Walter Scott? As in, “Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.”

I'd say 10 to 1 that Carr first attributed the quote to Shakespeare but a fact checker caught it, but then I realized that Carr's columns never really contain enough facts to check.
