Eeek. This is sure to reignite the debate over the surveillance cameras. Particularly after the Brookline Police make an arrest based on the footage.

I'm by no means blaming the victim here, but when you're walking in a city by yourself at 2:30 am...it happens. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often in Boston actually - I lived in a relatively safe neighborhood in DC for almost 10 years, and attacks at this time of night were pretty common, especially if you were walking by yourself.

She took a cab to that area. She was not wandering aimlessly on the streets. Plus, that is Coolidge Corner which is supposed to be a relatively safe area. Your "she shouldn't have been walking alone" comment is blaming the victim.

Yes, you are blaming the victim here. I'd be one to assume you would have never even thought to say this if the victim were male. Our society needs to spend less time pointing fingers and more time finding a solution.

I'm by no means siding the assailants here, but when you're driving around with your friend at 2:30 am and you see a woman walking alone...it happens. I mean, really, how can you *not* drive over to her, put your car in park, get out, attack and rape a woman?
