Parking in a Bike Lane? That's a paddlin'.

There was little fanfare a few weeks ago when the Mayor and City Council passed a new ordinance prohibiting parking and standing in bike lanes or marked shared lanes. The fine: $100. This puts it on par with blocking a bus stop, fire lane, fire hydrant, or handicap ramp.

Good
If it's not against the curb, it's not a fucking parking space, especially when the driver is still in the car! Circle the block, you lazy piece of shit.

Nice guy. I'm sure you have lots of friends.
I do
I make friends with people who are respectful and not self-centered idiots.
Does this mean that Silver Line buses using the
Washington Street bus lane, which is also marked as a bike lane, will be subject to fines for stopping to pick up passengers?

Great title. What's the reference?
Simpsons episode where the teachers went on
strike, and the citizens took over for them. Jaspar (?), one of the residents of the retirement home, started his class by outlining punishments for breaking various rules by saying (for example) "talking out of turn - that's a paddlin'". He did this about five or six times.

That was a great episode...

I hope they enforce the "no standing" part. The problem on comm ave many times is a car sitting for 10 minutes with the engine on waiting for someone
There was little fanfare because
there will be little enforcement, I'm predicting. Especially in Dunkin Donuts Enforcment-Free Zones where people are "only gettin' a coffee"

Indeed
Just as with enforcing parking in bus stops, unfortunately. Even when you call Transportation, they'll try to make excuses for whoever is parked there rather than, you know, send somebody over to collect a C-note for the city. Unbelievable.
What people don't realize if
What people don't realize if done as a collective taking up space for a few seconds each equals most of the day. Sure one person getting a coffee does no harm but then everyone does it and the space is always full but with someone else. It becomes a defacto 5 minute parking spot. Also even if the space is just occupied for a small period of time it could be an issue if that small period of time coincides with the bus schedule.
I do the same thing with my desk. Ive convinced myself it is clean because I never leave the same stuff on it week after week. The problem is I leave other stuff on it. So while it does get cleaned overtime I just replace the junk. For someone just walking by they would think it was always a mess.

And here's a photo of the Mayor's vehicle parked in a bike lane last summer.
Who's gonna ticket the mayor?
Grim will...
