Schilling: Hasn't ruled out Senate run

NECN reports.

Schilling

By Teddy Kokoros | Wed, 09/02/2009 - 2:28pm

I am going to pull a Schilling and draw attention to my blog where I mentioned Schilling as a possible "celebrity senatorial candidate along with Theo Epstein, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Kay Hanley, Eliza Dushku and Tom Brady a couple of days ago.

Good for Curt

By Jay (not verified) | Wed, 09/02/2009 - 2:36pm

I think everyone, at least once in their lifetime, should run for office. If he brings something positive to this race, I'm all for his candidacy. He won't, however, get my vote.

Curt Schilling Because...

we need at least one former Major League pitcher in the US Senate.

If that's the case, I'll

If that's the case, I'll nominate Bill Lee to oppose Schilling.

(granted, we'd have to relocate the Spaceman from his Vermont digs, but still...)

Ridiculous

By Dave | Wed, 09/02/2009 - 3:30pm

I think it's ridiculous to consider someone with no prior experience in holding an elected office as a candidate to fill a Senatorial position vacated by a Kennedy.

Wait, what?

"If his name were Curtis Montague, his candidacy would be a joke."

Why Ridiculous?

By Suldog | Wed, 09/02/2009 - 3:34pm

What experience do you suggest is needed? I'm not being facetious.

Why Ridiculous

For starters the experience of being a liberal.

  2. McCormack

I would like either

By ShadyMilkMan | Wed, 09/02/2009 - 4:32pm

I would like either experience or some sort of experience that shows you represent the people.

A career politician has proven they are good at being a politician.
A business man has shown he is smart enough to make money and deal with other people.
A social activist has shown they know the people
A succesful lawyer has shown they know the law

What does a former baseball player bring to the table? He has shown that he knows the game of baseball. He is too rich to know about the needs of the average person yet has not proven himself in the fields of law or business. He pretty much has a double X against his name for being rich without having made they money in a way that would have prepared him for the job.

Many Senators have never held elected office

Hillary Clinton
John Kerry
Ted Kennedy

pop into my head right off the bat.

be fair

John Kerry was Lieutenant Governor

I'll vote for Schilling...

By MC Slim JB | Wed, 09/02/2009 - 4:47pm

when he can travel back in time and help unelect the idiot he used his fame to help get elected, the genesis of all our curret woes, worst-president-ever George W. Bush. Just what Washington needs: another sanctimonious millionaire Republican to look out for the needs of working-class people. I hope you run, Curt: the drubbing you will get might teach you to stick to (literally) yammering into your blog.

celebrity pitcher

By Anonymous | Wed, 09/02/2009 - 9:16pm

I don't think the Republicans will run the celebrity pitcher unless he polls better than Healey or Jeff Beatty. He doesn't have a war chest from prior campaigns so he won't run without backing.
