Maybe this is what happened to Curley's desk

He took it on a tour of the neighborhoods in his last campaign and it wound up getting crushed by a garbage truck in Dorchester by mistake:

    i hope right now someone is at work with menino's empty desk at the Filene's site, crumbling Boston Common infrastructure, sleeping homeless, a T station closed at 2am as drunks fumble for their car keys, a Uhaul truck carrying recent college grads off to NYC....

    By the way - is that really Curley's desk? I'm not much for symbolism - but might be a nice touch if the next mayor put that out to pasture (maybe in a room in the Curley Mansion or Old City Hall) as a symbol of a new, more open generation in Boston politics?

    Joel Brown, who doesn't live in Boston and so has no dog in our fight, explains why this empty-chair spot is so horrible:
