Dead Red Line train at Park Street at rush hour

Of course, what better time for a Red Line train to break down at Park Street? At least it's on the outbound side.

Everything's "outbound" at Park Street, no? I've always thought of it (and DC) as the center of the line, so the signs say "Alewife" or "Braintree/Ashmont" but not "inbound" or "outbound."

it that the Red Line from Park to Downtown Crossing is considered "inbound" from Alewife. "Outbound" to Braintree and Ashmont actually starts at Downtown Crossing.

Likewise, Downtown Crossing to Park is considered "inbound" from Braintree and Ashmont. "Outbound" to Alewife actually starts at Park Street.

And if you're totally confused by now, perhaps you'd like to have the purpose of the blue lines in hockey explained to you by Mad Magazine.

BTW, I personally support the idea that the terms "inbound" and "outbound" be replaced with the overall direction the line heads. In the case of the Red Line, that would be northbound and southbound.

It doesn't help if you can't see outside.

I prefer the use of the terminal destinations and lots of available maps. That gets around there being two "southbound" lines as well.

Adam, et al.:

Let me stoke everyone up on this fine Friday morning:

Which train are you waiting for if you are trying to go outbound on the Red Line from Park?

I was thinking about this this morning w/r/t the Green Line if the extension ever gets built. Isn't it time that we start referring to direction as "[station] bound"?

In this particular case, the T actually said the train was "northbound," which I assume means toward Alewife, even though, technically, at that point, isn't the train more westbound?

Thats why at government center the green line says "westbound" and "eastbound" instead.
