Novel reason for a Red Line delay

Limeduck tweets:
woman drops bberry on tracks at central mbta sta. staff halts train to retrieve. at rush hour, I say crush it.
Rekha begs to differ:
That the MBTA retrieves fallen objects on tracks was one of the first things to endear Boston to me.

Given how it's nearly impossible for you to cancel your
plan if your cellphone gets damaged beyond repair, and the fact that in order to keep your phone number and plan, you have to pay full retail price for the replacement phone (IMO, one of the the biggest consumer SCAMS going), I side with Rekha on this one.
Not a matter of "crush it"
Chances are that a phone would not get crushed unless it was actually *on* the tracks themselves. That means that if the T didn't retrieve things from the tracks, people would see their phone down there ... or somebody else would see the phone down there ... and go after it.
Tis probably a good idea
Tis probably a good idea, as otherwise people might be inclined to retrieve the objects themselves, get run over, and delay the subway for even longer.
