Pit bull of a Good Samaritan chases alleged burglar across Back Bay

Andrew Heining reports the following via his Twitter feed: A Good Samaritan spotted a guy breaking a window at 9 Comm. Ave. in the Back Bay early this afternoon, ran at him - then after him. He chased the alleged burglar for over a mile through the Esplanade and the Public Garden. At one point, the guy attempted to slash the man with a screwdriver. Police caught up with the racing duo at Exeter and Newbury and put the alleged would-be burglar under arrest.
