Skateboard on skateboard

Skateboard on skateboard crime - that's Allston alright.

Wait , people still use

Wait , people still use skateboards?

Skatr Commuters

I've seen a lot of them coming in off the North Station commuter lines. Usually people who work near South Station or deeper into the Fan Pier area.

The main reason is that the T sucks for getting through town and skateboards are faster/easier than walking and compact for lugging onto a train. It is amusing to see 30- or 40-something guys in suits on skateboards coming down the Greenway, though. We need more of that IMHO.

Skateboarders...

Next, Skateboarders are going to want _their_ own lanes, too.

*G*

They have a superhighway

Unlike cyclists, they can use the extremely wide and empty (at 8am) sidewalks.

Don't you mean sk8tr? Oh,

Don't you mean sk8tr? Oh, those 35 y.o. sk8tr bois.

Remember the miniscooter

Remember the miniscooter phase? I don't see much of those anymore but at one point lots of people used to use those to partially commute.

if you go behind Jackson

if you go behind Jackson Mann in Allston any Saturday or Sunday afternoon, there will literally be dozens of kids skateboarding.

See guys on skateboards

See guys on skateboards pretty much every day... nothing new.

are you kidding me?

how does a fight w/ 150 people NOT make the boston globe? how is that the kind of news that gets one paragraph in the allston paper?

absurd.

Because it is a regular event

Way back in my mis-spent youth I lived on that corner, my deck over-looking the bar's parking lot. We witnessed assaults and called the police on a regular basis, and the cops rarely showed up, so I imagine the reporters also suffer some "riot fatigue" when it comes to that neighborhood.

I'm pleased to note that the cops are much better showing up in my current Brighton neighborhood. Of course, I've lived here for more than 10 years and have only had to call them once. Which neatly brings us back to "riot fatigue" I suppose...

Or because it probably

Or because it probably wasn't a 150 person brawl.

150 is the new hip 20 in Allston, doncha know.

harvard terrace

i have seen just about everything, including murder, on this corner. right across the street from the bacon chambers, where we used to get baked.
