UPDATE: Could be that NBC is going to compete with its own affiliate rather than revamp the Channel 7 site.

Looks like a major overhaul is coming for Channel 7's Web site. NBC Local is advertising for a city editor for an entirely new Web site that will look something like this:

NBC's new city websites feature unique around town, entertainment and local news coverage, delivered from the standpoint of a true insider. We are looking for an intelligent and highly motivated city editor to direct the "Locals Only" coverage of shopping, fashion, events, dining, politics, sports and breaking news in Boston. The city editor will write and produce several stories and slideshows per day, oversee a group of local contributors and partners, and manage content provided by senior editors at NBC Local Media.

Ed. note: Hmm, write several stories and slideshows a day AND manage writers AND deal with incoming content from the local afffiliate? I sure hope they're providing whoever they hire a free supply of caffeine pills - she's going to need them, especially when the ad states: "Must be able to work early morning, late night and weekend hours when demanded by the start-up environment, breaking news or other editorial responsibilities."
